Jim was a early boss at First National Bank and great mentor. His advice and support will always be remembered.

I was a neighbor of his brothers family for decades in Marshall and although Our chidren were and still are friends though I have long-since moved.  We never had the pleasure of meeting him but he was obviously a fine man who dedicated his life to a Christian path. I never knew about his book The Navigator and would like to have a copy since I collect history and aubiographies of prominent East Texas persons. I hope someone will let me know if one is available. My sincere sympathy to the entire extended family.

I cant get the plastic birthday cake song out of my head and his big smile when the cake was brought to the table for all his friends to share for the annual birthday dinner. Or when he shared his proudest moments of pictures and his book with me. Darlene...I am so sorry that you have to endure the big big loss of a great man and partner.  The two of you always instilled value into my own relationship. I love you and am really going to miss him.  Bless you and your family...and Mr Spellings - you always lit up all my families hearts when you came into City Cafe!

Jim Spellings was a Man's man. Strong, resolute, thoughtful, exceptionally inquisitive, all the attributes of a born leader. A Southern Christian Gentleman of the highest order. Our sincerest condolenceses to the Spellings Family.

Dear Mrs. Spellings, family, and of course my dear friend Tracy,
My heart and prayers are with you.  I was so glad to share in some family vacations and celebrations surrounded by joy and love.  Mr Spellings' beaming smile confirmed that his proudest moments were at family gatherings.  That love he shared with Tracy's friends was as if we were all part of the family. Dear Darlene, Tracy and Jaime,

I am so sorry of the passing of Jim Spelling and offer my condolences to his family.  Jim and I worked together for many years at First National Bank in Dallas. I remember like yesterday the time we spent in Tehran together when he ran the International Division.  He was a Texas Tech Kemas and a classy friend.  I will miss him dearly.
