James Bryant Wall, age 68, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024 in Garland, TX after a long fought battle with many heart conditions. He took every opportunity to fight for extending his life so that he could have as much time with his loved ones as possible. He was born on December 19, 1955 in Dallas, TX to Daniel Rufus Wall Jr. and Martha Maxine Tucker Wall. Jim was raised in Dallas, TX. His siblings fondly remember Jim, the youngest, trying to get them in trouble in his childhood. Jim graduated from Jesuit College Preparatory in 1974, where he was an All State football player. He also graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978, and stayed a devout UT fan, wearing a burnt orange polo with pride.
With Mary Bowen, his former wife, he was the father of 3 children: Christina Anne Wall, Meredith Leigh Wall, and Daniel Robert Wall. He was very sarcastic with his children and was always there when they needed to call on him. As Gramps, he was beyond excited to learn about and see every milestone of his granddaughter. He was in the restaurant business and later was a business broker. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed fishing, golfing, swimming, watching golf, spending time with his loved ones, and cooking. For Wall family holidays, our stubborn dad always had a rule that you could add new foods, but never subtract or substitute the staples that we all knew and enjoyed. His family and friends will always remember him as a gentle, kind, quiet, and humorous person. He may not have liked smiling for photos, but his eyes certainly twinkled quite a bit.
He is preceded in death by his parents D.R. Wall Jr. and Maxine Wall; and his brothers Daniel R. Wall III and John Steven Wall. Jim is survived by: his children Christina Wall Horner (Matthew), Meredith Wall Hill (Aaron), and Daniel Wall; his granddaughter Brennley Belle Horner; his sister Mary Martha Wall Midkiff (Charles); his brother Thomas Michael Wall (Vicki); his sister-in-law Barbara Wall; Shea Bryant Heimann; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.
Those who cared for Jim are invited to gather with family and share remembrances of Jim on September 21 at 11:00 at Calvary Hill Funeral Home at 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220, followed by a committal at 12:00 PM.
