James Richard Wood

James Richard Wood, 61, of Dallas, TX, peacefully passed away in his sleep on June 7, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Louis Wood, and mother, Lillie Mae Habarta Wood. Jim is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jana McElvain Wood, his two daughters, Lindsey Vickers and Haley Wood, granddaughter Savannah Vickers and son-in-law, Jackson Vickers. Jim is also survived by three brothers, Jack, Bob, and Dave, sister, Jan, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Dallas, TX, where he attended Thomas Jefferson High School. Jim received a college baseball scholarship to McLennan,and completed his undergraduate at University of North Texas.

Jim began his career with Foleys (formerly Sanger Harris) managing their Distribution Center and quickly rose to Operations Manager of their Highland Park Village store. Upon the store closure, Jim went to work for Sewell Village Cadillac in their new car sales, moving to Manager of Used Cars with Cadillac and Lexus, and ultimately Sewell BMW.

Jim had a passion for fishing, enjoying many fabulous trips to God’s Lake in Canada with his father-in-law, David (deceased) and the Gulf Coast with his brother, Bob. Jim was a sports enthusiast and spent many days perfecting his golf score, shooting some hoops and hunting on his brother’s ranch. Jim would do anything for his family and friends, who he treasured dearly, and is most remembered for his boyish grin and infectious laugh.

Services will be held at Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Ave., Dallas, TX, 75204, on June 15, 2022, at 2:00 PM.
