Jane Rejebian

Jane, as she was known to her family and friends, was a well-known and respected interior designer in Dallas for more than 50 years. She was born in Dallas on Sept. 9, 1933, and lived in the Park Cities all of her life. She was married to her loving husband, Myron V. Rejebian, for 53 years. He preceded her in death in 2007.

Family, church and community were the pillars of her life. She was a devoted member of Highland Park United Methodist Church since her baptism in the sanctuary the year she was born. For nearly a century, her church was the spiritual foundation and guiding light of her life. Her presence and involvement were steadfast.

Educated at Highland Park High School and Southern Methodist University, the Park Cities community was always of utmost importance to her; a trait passed by her father, Dr. J. Shirley Hodges, who established the Park Cities YMCA in 1944 and served as president of the Highland Park Independent Schook District. Jane also served on the YMCA board of directors and was active in issues that affected the Park Cities, including through her service as a member of Preservation Park Cities.

Jane was also a longtime sponsor of the Rejebian Book Review Series which was begun by her parents in law, Ermance and V. Y. Rejebian in 1956, and which continues today. She was a member of the Junior League of Dallas, the Dallas Garden Club, and the Dallas Woman’s Club.

Defining a life well lived encompasses not only one’s professional accomplishments, but the mark left on family and friends. Known for a quick sense of humor and love of a good story, Jane understood that life is lived in the present and that friendships are at the core of real happiness. In times of joy and need, she was the wife, mother and neighbor on whom one could count. She was a strong woman.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and J. Shirley Hodges; her sister, Ann Hodges Price; and her husband, Myron.

Jane is survived by her sister, Shirley Hodges Martin; her sons, David, Michael, Bradford, and daughter in law, Sherri; grandchildren, Michael, Joanna (Andrew), Turner and Clayton; great-grandchildren, Miles and James; and her design assistant for 35 years, Joanne Eason.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, July 30, at Highland Park United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Park Cities YMCA.
