Janice Martine Boulding

Janice Martine Crumble Boulding 79, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2023 at Golden Acres Living and Rehabilitation in Dallas, TX, from a lengthy illness. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on May 27,1944 as the youngest daughter of Frank and Druzella Lucille Crumble. Her sister, Rachel Ray was 22 years older, yet they shared a loving relationship. Both her parents and her sibling proceeded her in death.

Known for her adventurous and curious nature, keen wit,and sense of humor, rarely would anyone experience a dull moment when Janice was interacting with them. Maybe it's was her big bright smile or her engaging conversations that captured the attention of others. Janice's personal passion was education. Whether it was academic in nature or just traveling to meet new people or learning new skills, she did not fear living life out loud.

She was simply brilliant in mathematics. After graduating with honors from Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, she attended Grambling State University where she studied what was then considered a new technology in computer science.

Janice is mother to her surviving daughter, Sonja Lenita Crumble-Summers. As a teen mom at 15, Janice and her daughter maintained a close bond that can only be described as an incredible life journey of God's love in action. Her daughter Sonja, provided care and support, but she was not alone. Janice enjoyed a village of family, friends, and a loving church family at Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church whom she loved and cherished dearly for nearly two decades Leading up to her final days, she was able to spend some precious moments celebrating her last birthday in 2023 surrounded by family and close friends.

Janice will be dearly missed by all who knew and love her. She would probably ask that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Sonja Summers (Larry), Michael Smith (Nephew), Yvonne Staples (Niece), Great-Nephews/Nieces: Anthony Smith (Marcy), Jamal Staples (Namphuyo), Brian Sampson (Debra), Leon Sampson (Teonna), Travis Sampson (TeRica), Dominique Howard (Eric), Linicha Sampson-Hunter (Eric), Penny Sampson-Anderson (Darnell) and a host of extended family and friends.
