

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Grove Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Boulevard, Dallas, Texas 75228.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Grove Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, with Reverend Michael Walker officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Faith section of Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Services are under the direction of Grove Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
Janie was born on September 20, 1926, in Thornton, Texas, Limestone County, to James H. Hudson and Bertha Dickey Hudson. She attended school in Thornton and graduated as salutatorian from Thornton High School in 1943. Following high school, Janie moved to Dallas, Texas, where she began a distinguished career with the federal government. She worked initially for the Social Security Administration, later for the Veterans Administration, and after taking time to raise her family, returned to federal service with the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development as a financial analyst. Janie retired in 1986 after a 25‑year career with the federal government and received numerous awards recognizing her outstanding service and achievements.
Janie was a devoted, life-long member of Pleasant Mound United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women, volunteered for Vacation Bible School, taught Sunday School to both junior high and adult classes, and assisted with auditing church accounts. Her faith, dedication to service, and love for her church community were central to her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Clinton” Odom; her parents, James and Bertha Hudson; her siblings James Henry Hudson, Jr., Jerry Hudson, Billy Ray Hudson, Mazelle Garrett, Frances Wilson, and Betty Jo Brown, and their spouses Jack Garrett, Vestle Wilson, and Ruby Hudson Overstreet; her son‑in‑law, Glenn Senn; and her great‑grandsons Antonio Cervantes, Jr. and Nolan Schmidt.
Janie is survived by her daughters, Sharon Odom Senn, Debbie Odom Rappaport and Jay Howard; her grandchildren Padgett Senn Cervantes and Tony, Bonnie Senn Schmidt and Breck, Mandy Senn Mitchell and David, David Jamison and Sarah, Stephanie Jamison Maguire and Sean, Andrea Rappaport Schmidt and Steve, and Carly Rappaport Leisk and David; 17 great‑grandchildren; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jay Howard, David Jamison, Sean Maguire, Tony Cervantes, Breck Schmidt, and David Mitchell.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Abbott, the many nurses and staff, Dr. Reverend Veronica Davis, and all of CC Young Senior Living Hospice Care for their compassionate care. The family also thanks neighbors Ben and Gloria Tubbs and friend John Daniels for their love, support, and devoted care of their mother.
