

Bill was born to H.K. and Gypsy Jane Wesson on November 28,1937 in Geary, Oklahoma. He grew up in Shawnee, Oklahoma, attended Shawnee High School where he played semi-pro baseball, and graduated with the Class of 1955. He went on to study Mathematics at Oklahoma State University in 1959 where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, followed by a Master’s in Statistics.
In 1960, Bill married Rosalie Greiner of Henryetta, Oklahoma. They moved to San Antonio, Texas where he joined the United States Air Force. In 1963, he was recruited by IBM in San Antonio, and they lived there for nine years.
IBM moved Bill and his family to Dallas, Texas in 1973 where he was a Consulting Systems Engineer and an expert in mainframe hardware, ultimately retiring in 2001. He was admired and loved by both co-workers and clients alike. Next, he formed a partnership with two other retirees, which focused on mainframe software sales.
Since 1973, he had been a member of Saint Michael and All Angels Church, and he loved working at the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament each year. He was also a member of The Dallas 40, a well-known men’s civic organization. In 2007, Bill married Leslie Benoit of Dallas, TX and they spent the next 16 years enjoying retirement, entertaining, traveling, and keeping fit with golf and tennis.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Benoit-Wesson; his son, Stephen Greiner Wesson of Austin; his daughter, Jennifer Wesson Stover and her husband, Paul, and their daughters, Emily and Lauren of Dallas, Texas; his sister, Janie Wesson Garretson of Allen, Texas and other nieces and family members.
He is preceded in death by his late wife Rosalie Greiner Wesson (2002) and his parents H.K. and Gypsy Jane Wesson.
Bill was a wonderful, loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather and will be sorely missed. He and his family are grateful for the attention of many, many amazing doctors and nurses at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas and for his care team at Three Oaks Hospice on Allencrest.
The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, October 18 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home. All are welcome at a brief Committal Service for burial at Sparkman-Hillcrest on Thursday, October 19 at 2:30 PM. A Funeral Service will then be held at 3:30 PM at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, followed by a reception, also at the Church.
