Jean was born in Hastings, England, on July 9, 1928, to Ralph and Winifred Chapman. She was the loving wife of Normand M. Bremner for 53 years before his death in 2004.
Normand and Jean moved to the United States in 1956. They lived in New Haven, CT, and St. Louis, MO, before settling in Dallas, TX, in 1960. Jean was a nurse and mid-wife before moving to the United States. Throughout her life, she was active in many local charities and, at one time in the 1980s, she owned the independent bookstore, Markner's Books, with her best friend Lenore Markowitz. Later in life, she took up painting and singing in the choir at Edgemere and enjoyed visiting the Dallas Arboretum.
She was a devoted mother of 6 sons, grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother to 1 (fondly known as Grandma Jean), and the Bremner home became a favorite gathering place for friends and family. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Her love of music and singing will provide cherished memories for years to come.
Jean is survived by her children, Steuart Bremner and wife Terry Talty, Neil Bremner and wife Joan, Keith Bremner and wife Susan, Duncan Bremner and wife Toni, Andrew Bremner and wife Lisa; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, brother, Ralph Chapman and wife Angela and daughters Claire and Jo of Sussex, England. She was preceded in death by her son Dugald, her husband Normand and her parents Ralph and Winifred Chapman.
There will be a celebration of life service held for family and close friends at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home.
