Jean Marie Luttrell

Jean Marie Hutchinson Luttrell, age 94, of Rockwall, Texas, passed away Sunday morning, March 30, 2025. She was born on July 12, 1930, in Deport, Texas, the daughter of Albert Leroy and Opal Gaines Hutchinson. Jean graduated from Paris High School in Paris, Texas, in 1948. She moved to Dallas, Texas, to attend secretarial school and then went to work at Lone Star Gas Company, where she met and married the love of her life, the late Oscar D. Luttrell, on August 4, 1951. Jean and Oscar had three sons: David, Daniel, and Gregory.

Jean worked for more than 38 years and retired in 1992 as the secretary to the president of Lone Star Gas.

In her spare time, Jean enjoyed spending time with her sons, their families, and her sisters. She also enjoyed gardening, crafting, sewing, and watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys with Oscar. Jean and Oscar learned how to use an iPhone so they could text and FaceTime with their grandchildren. Jean faithfully read her Bible along with a devotional every day and prayed for her family. She was a loving and gracious person, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, always thinking of others first. Jean was a true Proverbs 31 woman.

Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, Oscar D. Luttrell; her parents, Albert and Opal Hutchinson; and her siblings, Ode Leroy, Alta, Elaine, Betty Jo, Glenda, and Henry.

Jean is survived by her sons: David and his wife, Annette; Daniel; and Gregory and his wife, Debbie. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tonya, Kristina, James, Kyle, Bethany, Jeana, Alexandra, Ethan, and Grant; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service for Jean will be held Friday, April 4, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, Texas 75228.
