Mother was born in Cushing, Texas, on April 27, 1922, to Robert and Bessie Brown Grant and passed away here in Dallas on Monday, January 27, 2020, at the remarkable age of 97. She grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas, where she married her first husband , Coker Moss. After his untimely death, she moved to Dallas where she met our father, James A. Wimberley, while they were both working at the IRS. She and Dad raised four loving children and remained together more than 60 years until his death in 2014. We all remained close to her mother, Bessie Grant, along with her first mother-in law, Winnie Moss, a wonderful woman whom we also loved as a grandmother.
Survivors include her son, Jay Wimberley and his wife, Debra, of Dallas and son, John E. Wimberley of Dallas. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her two other children, Paul A. Wimberley, and daughter, Ann Wimberley Bahr, but survived by Paul's two children: Jesse Wimberley and his partner Sheighlyn of Lewiston, Idaho, and their sons Cody and Wyatt, and Madelyne Wimberley of San Francisco; and Ann's two children: Ashley Bahr Heflin and her husband, Chris, of Marco Island, Florida, and their three children, Brinley, Brysen, and Hadlie, and Trevor Bahr and his partner Becca of Shalimar, Florida, and their son, Carter. Survivors also include Paul's widow, Rita Wimberley of Dallas, and Ann's widower, Don Bahr of Shalimar, Florida, and his wife, Melissa.
We would also like to thank the wonderful, caring women who have helped take care of our parents over the past many years, allowing them to remain in their own home: Nancy Taylor, Laura Barton, Linda Boles, Yolanda Parks, and Emily Ongesa. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to Mabel LeBlanc, one of Mother’s longtime caregivers, who was gracious enough to bring her into her own home to live after Mother’s home was destroyed by the October 20th tornado.
