– 2 Timothy 4:7
Jeffery Daffie Manns, a beloved father, devoted husband, and proud grandfather, was born on June 9, 1932, in Henderson, Texas, to Odis Manns and Robbie Harkless. As a child, JD moved to Longview, Texas, where he would grow up to become a man marked by his deep love for family, unwavering faith in God, and dedication to service. JD was the second oldest of five children, and from an early age, he displayed a strong sense of responsibility and care for those around him. His life was defined by his devotion to his family and his community.
JD graduated from Womack High School in 1948, and soon after enrolled at Jarvis Christian College. In 1950, JD was drafted into the U.S. Army and served with honor in the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he moved to Dallas, where he would live the remainder of his life. His devotion extended to his wife, Bobbie Jean, whom he married in 1969. Their union of 53 years was a true love story, and testament to his enduring commitment to family and love. JD’s heart remained true to Bobbie until her passing in 2022. In 1998, after 36 years of dedicated service with Halliburton, he retired, but his greatest joy remained his family.
One of JD’s greatest joys in life was dancing, a passion that brought him immense happiness and joy. He was known for his spirited presence on the dance floor, where his infectious energy would light up any room. His love for dancing was just one expression of his generous and vibrant spirit.
JD was a devoted father to two children, Vonda P. Manns and Jeffrey D. Manns (Derrick), always putting their well-being and happiness first.
On Friday, December 20, 2024, Jeffery Daffie Manns, entered into his eternal home of Glory. He was welcomed by his wife, Bobbie Manns; his parents, Odis and Robbie Manns, and his brother, Odis Manns, Jr. JD’s life was one of service, sacrifice, and love.
