Born on January 26, 1935, in Philadelphia, he was the son of William Seitchik and Lillian Helen Krouse and brother to Tersa Agard.
Jerry earned his PhD in Solid State Physics from the University of Pennsylvania and did postdoctoral research at the famed Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ, and went on to work at Univac in Blue Bell, PA for 10 years. From there, Jerry and his wife Bonnie moved to Dallas in December of 1975, where he worked at Texas Instruments, Inc. While at Univac and TI he was involved in pioneering research and development, including advanced theories to model the complex behavior of semiconductor materials that led to faster and more capable microprocessors and memory chips. After more than 25 years at TI where his lifetime achievements were recognized with the TI Fellow Award, Jerry retired and traveled the world.
Throughout his career, Jerry was known for his dedication to scientific inquiry and his commitment to mentoring young physicists. His work has left a lasting impact on the scientific community and continues to inspire future generations.
Jerry is survived by his wife Bonnie, and two daughters Meredith Kurry and Wendi Martinez, and grandchildren, Cassidy and Jacob Kurry, and Lillian and Gabriel Martinez. He was a cherished mentor and supporter of his nephew David Agard whose scientific career he inspired. His friends and colleagues will remember him for his intellectual rigor, kindness, and unwavering passion for physics. His legacy will endure through his contributions to science and the many lives he touched.
A graveside for Jerold will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sparkman/Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 W Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225.
