Jerry Stephen Mattox died at the age of 63 on August 4, 2016. He passed peacefully in his home, on the street where he had lived his entire life in Old East Dallas. Jerry was born on December 7, 1952 to Norman S. Mattox and Mary Kathryn Harrison Mattox.
Jerry graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1971 and proudly graduated from the University of Texas in 1975.
He loved family, friends, football and Fair Park. He was a lifelong Democrat.
He is survived by: his sister, Janice L. Mattox, nephew, James S. “Jimmer” Mattox, niece, Janet M.K. “Sissi” Mattox and soul mate Connie S. Gustafson. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, James A. “Jim” Mattox. He is also survived by his rescue dogs, Jake and CoCo.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday, August 8, 2016, at the Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas followed by a gathering of friends at the family warehouse at 4209 Parry Avenue, Dallas, Texas. Dress as Jerry would.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, charitable gifts be made to Dallas Children’s Charities, Jerry's favorite charity, 15707C Coit Road, Suite 152, Dallas, Texas 75248.
