Jerry was born in Star City, Arkansas on May 9, 1929. Her father was a farmer and mother a housewife. Their house had dirt floors and no running water or electricity. Outside of school her time was spent working on the farm picking fruit, planting seeds and picking cotton. Jerry got a job with Central Freightlines in Dallas and met Bill when he came to install a phone line for her desk. This meeting happened in 1959 and they married in November 1961 at Gaston Avenue Baptist Church. Together they attended church and belonged to several organizations. Jerry was active in the Rebeccas Lodge and founded the Big D Transporter newsletter. They owned a successful real-estate business for over 30 years and played golf everywhere they went. They buried their only child, Deborah in May of 2009. At the time of Bill's passing in September 2020, they were married 58 years.
Jerry is survived by 2 grandsons, Michael and Nicholas. Michael and his wife, Rachael, brought great joy to Jerry's life, with their 5 beloved great-grandchildren: Mason, Grace, Colin, Aiden and Justin.
