Jesse Lujan, 86, was born February 14, 1940, in Alpine, Texas, and passed away October 4, 2026. A beloved and cherished father and grandfather, Jesse will be remembered with deep affection for the steady love he gave so freely, the hard work that shaped his life, and the humor that never seemed far from reach. He was a man who could carry responsibility with quiet strength, and still find a way to make those around him laugh—often when they least expected it.
In his early years, Jesse was a hard-working rancher, rooted in the values of the land and the dignity of honest labor. Later, he moved on to become a welder and machine operator, bringing the same determination and capable hands to every day’s work. Through each season of his life, he showed what it meant to keep going, to provide, and to meet life with both grit and heart.
In retirement, Jesse spent his years traveling between his many homes with his children and grandson in Dallas and West Texas, always drawn to the comfort of family and familiar places. In time, he finally set roots in Kaufman, Texas, where he enjoyed the country life once again—returning to the kind of peace that felt like home.
Jesse found joy in simple, familiar pleasures. He loved to tinker with his vehicles—even when they “never ran right,” as the family would say with a smile. He was always telling jokes, and he delighted in playfully using his cane to scare the kids, turning ordinary moments into memories that will be retold for years. He will also be remembered for his attitude, his major sweet tooth, and the way he joked around with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—making them feel seen, loved, and included in his world.
Jesse is survived by his children Nancy Tijerina, Connie Dymek, and Jesse Lujan Jr, and their spouses Marc Tijerina, Stephan Dymek, and Stephanie Almanza. He is also survived by many, many grand and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two daughters, Susie and Sally Lujan.
The family would like to thank all the family who came together for support during this major loss.
“When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not here to see, if the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me, I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today. While thinkinking of the many things we didn't get to say, I know how much you love me as much as I love you. And each time you think of me, I'll know you miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in heaven far above. And that bid have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through heavens gate, I felt so much at home when god looked down and smiled at me from his great golden throne. He said, "This is eternity and all I promised you today, your life on earth is passed. But, here it starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, for today will always last. And, since each day is the same way, There's no longing for the past. So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.”
