Jewel Powers, 93, passed away May 24, 2018 in Rowlett, Texas. She was born January 30, 1925 in Flint, Texas to Jonnie and William Baker. Jewel worked as a seamstress and factory worker at Creme Lure Company. She enjoyed working puzzles, reading books and walking the halls to visit with all of her neighbors at the retirement community but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jewel is preceded in death by her children, Linda McDonald, Melvin Hayes and James David Pierce; parents, Jonnie and William Baker and siblings, Mary McCormick, Juanita Beam, Odell Baker, Charles Steele and J.W. Steele. She is survived by daughter, Mary Armstrong and husband, Michael; sister and bestfriend, Gnell Gartrell; grandchildren, Earl Wayne Hopkins, Bryon Hopkins and wife, Correna, James Hayes and wife, Lisa, Melvin Hayes and wife, Julie, Steven Hayes, John Beardin, Cynthia Sullivan, Christopher Armstrong and Misti Pierce; great-grandchildren, Nacona, Presley, Wyatt and Molly Hopkins; Anthony and Christina Hayes; Aubrey, McGuire, Melanie, Ashley and Emily Hayes and Jaqueline, Jessie and Steven Hayes and Whitney Marcantonio, Drew Marcantonio and wife, Lesley, Jennifer and Phillip Beardin and Ella Armstrong and great-great-grandchildren, Jonnie Hayes and Bentley Hayes and a host of extended family members.
