During her formative years, she attended public schools in Amarillo, Texas before going to college. She earned her Bachelor degree in Education and Physical Education from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas.
Jewelle joined church at an early age and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Amarillo, Texas. Jewelle served as a professional teacher for 36 years. She taught in Amarillo, Texas for three years before moving to Dallas, Texas to teach. She taught at Birdie Alexander Elementary for 33 years. After retirement, Jewelle worked as a dedicated substitute teacher.
She passed away on, July 8, 2023, at 6:24 PM. She will be remembered for her caring, dedicated, generous and kind spirit. She was very loyal to her family and many friends.
She is survived by a daughter, LaKendra Simon; sons, Justin DeShone and Kevin White; grandsons, Nazir Evans, Elijah Deshone and Jireh DeShone; granddaughters, Londynn DeShone and Nyla DeShone; brother, Daniel “Len” Brown (wife, Kimberly); aunts, Ella Lindsey and Ann Miles; and uncles, Edgar Miles and Lawrence Lindsey and a host of family and friends.
