Jimmie Arney, a resident of Kemp Tx and native of Dallas Tx, passed away November 14, 2018 in Dallas. She was born November 23, 1929 in Dallas, the daughter of Florence Matilda (Miller) and Cecil William Garrett Sr. She had one brother, Cecil William Garrett Jr, and two sisters Jo Ruth Garrett and Billie Dawn Lindsay. She was married to Claude Franklin Arney Jr in 1947. When she was younger, she worked at office jobs in banking and the Salvation Army. After her father died, she ran the family business for many years. Later in life she concentrated on taking care of her family. She loved working on family genealogy and being a member of the Jane Douglas Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) where she served as Regent from 2002 to 2004. She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband, her son Michael Ray Arney and her daughter Pat Sinclair. She is survived by her son and daughter in-law Chuck and Debbie Arney of Dallas, and her daughter and son in-law Nancy and David Shreves of Washington Indiana. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Visitation with the family will be Sunday November 18, 2018 from 5pm-7pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Dallas and funeral services will be Monday, November 19 at 12 noon, also at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
