

Jimmy graduated from Denton High School, and then earned his college degree from Southern Methodist University. He met the love of his life, Sammye Haston, and they were married on February 5, 1954.
Jimmy loved numbers, and made a career out of his passion. He worked as an accountant for the Dallas Morning News, an auditor for AH Belo Corp, and opened his own business which was his pride and joy - Habern Tax & Bookkeeping Service.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his bride, Sammye J. Habern; son, Samuel Dewayne Habern; father, Charles H. Habern; mother, Era Mae Noice; brother, Charles J. Habern; and sister, Frances Foster.
He is survived by his son, Jimmy R. Habern, Jr. (Karen); daughter, Sheri Melinda Foster (Lynn); grandson, Jason Habern (Lezlie); great-grandchildren, Haston and Ryleigh Habern; and his loving friend in Christ and caregiver, Felecia Bartley.
A graveside service for Jimmy will be held Monday, June 19, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jimmy's name to First Baptist Church Plano - Mission Funds (3665 W. Pres George Bush Hwy, Plano, Texas 75075), St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the Visiting Nurses Association.
