

Deacon Jimmy Lee Sears was born on October 24, 1933 to the parentage of the Elder William Sears and Missionary Julia (Coleman) Sears in Rockwall, Texas. His parents and six of his siblings – Willie James Sears, Mary Lee Sears Davis, Charlene Sears Armstead, Minnie V. Sears, Robert Lee Sears and Reed Sears all preceded him in death. Deacon Sears matriculated through the Dallas Independent Schools and Rutherford Business College where he studied Accounting. Deacon Sears attended Canada Drive Church of God In Christ with his parents and family under the leadership of Superintendent Valentine, there he accepted Christ at an early age. Deacon Sears sang gospel with his family group, the late Rev. Gene West and others around the city of Dallas, Tyler and Waco. On October 25, 1952 he united in holy matrimony to his childhood sweetheart, Lorine Lovie Christian and they were married for 62 wonderful years. To this union five children were born Janice, Vickie, Cedrick, Kim, and Darrell. Darrell Gene Sears preceded him in death. In 1954 Deacon Sears was called to serve in the United States Army. He served from 1954 – 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1962. Deacon Sears was ordained as a deacon in 1979 at the Peterson Memorial Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. P.V. Finley and later under Pastor R. D. Brown. He served faithfully on the Trustee Board, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Brotherhood, Chairman of finance, and sang with the male chorus. Deacon Sears loved the Lord and the church. He served faithfully until his health began to fail him. Deacon Sears began working freight in 1960. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 745. He was a Cross County Truck Driver for many years and retired from CF Freight Line in 1996. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Lorine Sears, sister Laura Sears Burleson of Oklahoma City; 3 daughters: Janice Jones (Wendell), Vickie Robinson, Kim Jackson (Johnny); son Cedrick (Ronda); fourteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
