Jo Deane was born to Joe and Ruby Browning on April 4, 1937 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Jo Deane had 2 siblings, sister Roberta Schuetze and brother Harrell Browning. Jo Deane cherished her 10 years at Camp Waldemar in Hunt, Texas where she earned the highest honor and formed a friendship so dear that she later named her daughter after her closest camp friend. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri majoring in fashion design.
Jo Deane lived her life in Corpus Christi, Texas until her marriage on August 18,1956 to the love of her life, William “Bill” Edward Bradford.
During their 70 years of marriage, they moved over 30 times across the country and abroad to London, with each move reflecting her unwavering support for her husband and his career.
Jo Deane devoted herself to raising their 3 children often managing the family and home, while her husband’s career required him to travel extensively. Their children are William Browning Bradford (deceased) and wife Shelley, daughter Anna Kathleen Bradford, and son Jon Edward Bradford.
Jo Deane was a gourmet cook, wonderful gardener, and a beautiful interior and fashion designer. Jo Deane did it all her way (the best way and the only way). Her hobbies included traveling to Scotland, especially Kelso, which held a special place in Jo Deane’s heart. She treasured her many friendships there, delighted in Scottish traditions, and took great pride in her beautiful and much-admired garden. She never shied away from competition, sharing with her husband a love of shooting and golf. She could hold her own with anyone and would gladly stand at the men’s tees with Bill, ready to tee off. Loyalty was one of Jo Deane’s deepest values, and she was unwaveringly loyal to the family and friends she held dear.
Jo Deane is survived by her devoted husband William Edward Bradford, daughter Anna Kathleen Bradford and son Jon Edward Bradford, granddaughters Elysse Browning Bradford, Emily Glasscock (Jeremy), Liz Lehman (Danny), Caitlin Cooksey (Troy), great-grandchildren Elliott and Edie Lehman, Annabel Black and Jeremy Glasscock Jr., sister Roberta Schuetze (Ray), and adored brothers-in-law Jack Bradford (Molly-deceased) and James Bradford, and more in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews than we can list, but she loved every one of them.
Jo Deane is predeceased by their son William Browning Bradford, brother Harrell Z. Browning (Marsha), sisters-in-law Elizabeth Brown (Elbert-deceased), and Susan Bradford.
