

Jody Pomara was born on November 15, 1955, in Waco, Texas. He was born to his mother, Virginia Turbeville Recknor of Mineola, Texas, and his father Joe Recknor of Buffalo, Texas. When Jody was 8 years of age, he was adopted by his stepfather, Johnny B. Pomara, Jr. of Dallas. Jody moved to Dallas from Waco when he was 2 years old and remained in Dallas for the remainder of his life. He moved to Lake Highlands in Dallas with his parents when he had just turned six (6) where he lived in the same house with his mother for 50 years. He attended Lake Highlands Elementary, Lake Highlands Jr. High, and Lake Highlands High School.
Jody died at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas on April 7, 2012.Visitation will be Tuesday, April 10th from 7 to 9 p.m., at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at Sparkman-Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel on Wednesday, April 11th at 2:00 p.m. He will be entombed in the patio mausoleum at Sparkman Hillcrest where he will one day be joined by his beloved mother, Virginia. The funeral service will be conducted by John L. Rowlett of Dallas. Jody is survived by a small family and many friends. Many of his beloved family members pre-deceased him. Jody and his mother both extend many many thanks to the great Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Visiting Nurses Assn. of Dallas, Towngate Dialysis Center, and Doctors Healthcare of Dallas. Down through the years Jody was blessed with whole teams of specialty physicians. We would like to thank all of the following M.D. 's: Bruce Wall, Stephen Rinner, James Kahn, Dr. Aliyah,M.D., William Dittman, Stephen Coker, James Cochran, Jake Porter, Jim Miller, D.D.S. & his wonderful staff. Any & all others not named, you know who you are. Jody's mother is not just real sharp right now. We would also like to thank Kindred Central Hospital of Dallas. Their team tried long and valiantly to save Jody's life. When they felt that perhaps Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas could offer more than they had, they transferred him to Presbyterian. Thank you, thank you Troy, respiratory therapist at Kindred. I will never forget your long efforts. No one could have tried any harder. I also thank the rest of your team and all of the doctors and nurses at Kindred & Presby¬terian, including Drs. Weinstein, Winemeister, Hasbund, & Kumar.
