

John B. Billingsley Jr., prominent Dallas Businessman, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:05 pm, on Monday, February 10th, 2025, at Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospital after complications from open heart surgery, at the age of 85 years. He was born December 3rd, 1939, in Lamesa to John Bryce (Sr.) and J. Verna “Tootsie” (Street) Billingsley. Billingsley was raised in O’Donnell by a prominent family of farmers, ranchers, and livestock traders. At a young age, John displayed entrepreneurial interest that ventured beyond crops and livestock. He graduated from O’Donnell High School and Texas Tech University after which he passed his CPA exam and founded his own accounting firm that was merged into one of the nationally leading “Big Eight” accounting concerns at the time. He served as chairman and president of the Western State Bank of Midland that he purchased until it’s divestment 1981. Billingsley married Harriett Stone in 1987, and they moved to Dallas where they began a 36-year marriage, during which they ran a business and raised a family together. In 2009, Billingsley founded Tri Global Energy after being approached by a wind developer and realizing the traditional business model needed improvement and led the company to become one of the nation’s largest wind energy developers and a dominant leader in wind development in Texas. A lifelong entrepreneur, Billingsley was widely recognized as a pioneer and industry visionary in renewable energy development by the way he brought forward innovation in the field. He will be greatly missed by his family; business colleagues; many special friends. His family and friends all know without a doubt that he was received with a great welcome and celebration by his loved ones and the Lord Jesus Christ as he entered Heaven, and that he will be there to welcome each of us at our appointed time.
Those left to cherish John’s memory are his wife, Harriett; sons, Tom Billingsley, David Billingsley, Taylor Billingsley, Michael Stone, Jason Billingsley, and Bryce Billingsley; a daughter Sheri Hay; as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
Billingsley is preceded in death by his parents; brother Michael I. Billingsley; his son Richard A. Billingsley; his daughter Taryn V. Billingsley; and his grandson Richard “Ricky” Billingsley.
