John A. Brigance, on December 2, 2017, at age 97, joined his wife Peggy and other family and friends who have departed this world. John was a World War II veteran and worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 61 years in the Galveston District and as Chief of Procurement and Supply in the Southwest Division Office in Dallas, Texas. He was a member of the Wilshire Baptist Church, was an avid hunter, loved to play poker, and a lifelong golfer.
John and Peggy were wed in 1941 and celebrated 70 years of matrimony. They shared most of their lives together, living in Galveston, La Marque, and Dallas, Texas; had two sons (Terry and John, Jr.), and loved to dance, When John retired, the Corps had to weld a 50 year and a 10 year pin together for him and was still one year short of his total years of service.
He is survived by his sons, Terry and his wife Julie Ballinger and step-son Josh Walker and his wife Karlita Cuesta Walker, and John, Jr., as well as nieces and nephews and their children.
