I think about you all too often of the life lessons you have shared with me and others. I still hear your voice as vividly as if we are having a long conversation as you share your message with me for the upcoming Sunday. I miss you and love you always.


Miss you my brother. Isn’t the same with out you. Man I got a lot to tell you when we meet again. I know you’re watching over me and my family. Love you.

 I am in shocked when I found out our long time neighbor Pastor John has passed away. 

I didn't learn about it until I was out of the country through another neighbor.  

I will miss his friendly smile and amiable face.  He would ask me about my flowers in our garden facing his house.  I adored his beautiful marigolds when in bloom.  I will miss his presence especially him walking in the backyard reading his Bible.  

I know he will watch over us.  May he rest in peace.  God bless his family.

As a young girl you played such a pivotal moment in my life! Under your leadership as a teenager I was able to worship freely without feeling embarrassed.  You made such an impact on my entire families life and you will forever be in my heart! Rest well sir!

Pastor Currie  was a powerful man of God.  I remember him from  Southern  Crest. He was always on fire for the Lord. My condolences to the family.  May God give you strength during  this time. 

 Pastor was a father to me . Thank you for everything you taught me. You have polish me into the woman I am today.  I am a change woman . My pastor of 21 years and he will be missed I was about 8 years old coming to church singing in the choir when i was little then praise dancing he watched me grow up if it wasn't for him i dont know where I would be in life right now he spoke to me everytime I walked in the church speaking the word I will never forget him he will be truly missed gone but never forgotten

Pastor always said I am not called to everybody but I knew  you were called to be my spiritual father.  I would not be the woman that I am today if it had not been for your teaching. I will never forget all the phone calls, encouraging words and life lessons that you taught. I Thank God for leading me to Grateful Fellowship where Pastor and First Lady welcomed me and my children. The Most important of the teachings that I will never forget was forgiveness. The kind of forgiveness God gives us and because of that all of my grandchildren are in my life. This Soul Sister will never forget you and like Pastor  Ivory said last night “You left a stain on all of our lives”  I love you and you will be missed. 

Rev., you're my guy!  I truly thank God for allowing you to be a huge part of my life. It seems like every major event I have had in the last 7 years, you have always been there for me. To guide, correct and encourage me. You have made my walk with God real and relevant. No more riding on the coat tails of my parents, but understanding that I have to have it. Thank you for building me to be a better man and father. Thank you for caring and pouring into my extended family and students at Zumwalt Middle School and Sunset High School.  Thank you for the care, love, direction and support that you have poured into Richmond and Jaliyah.  They have told me multiple times that you have stepped in as their Grandfather since my Dad went to be with the Lord.  Thank you for Sis. Currie and Ivory and the love you have for them and the jewels they are.  Gonna miss you beyond measure. Rest on, you deserve it.

Bishop was my Pastor, my Mentor, and my Father in the Ministry. I am so grateful for him ordaining me, the many phone conversations and meetings in the office. He was one of the most influential men in my life. He taught me so many things and I am the man I am today because of him! 

Pastor Currie is my brother in-law who I didn't see as much as I should, but in his passing I reflect back in time when my sister first introduced him to the family, and at that very moment I know he was the perfect man for my sister. My brother in-law loved the Lord and was not shy with letting everyone he came across just how much he loved God but in the same breath he also made it a priority to let the world know that he loved and adored my beautiful and loving sister.  His presence will truly be missed, but I truly believe if we were able to call him today and ask the question would you like to come back, I believe his reply would be " I'm finally in total piece and I'd rather remain with my farther whom I  prepared myself to meet many years ago".  Rest in Heavenly peace brother and I look forward to seeing you again one day🙏🙏🙏

Pastor Currie was like a brother to me. He was a true prophet.  Everything he prophesied in my life came true.  I had a bad accident in 2015. They was transferring me from one hospital to another. Pastor told me, Sweet I’m right behind you. The next thing I knew Pastor was in the emergency room saying “is he here yet”. My wife replied, yes he is. Pastor immediately said who is the doctor on staff. One of the doctors spoke he was. Pastor said can I talk to you minute.  After speaking to the doctor Pastor came in my room and said, Sweet you will be okay. He started prophesied over my life. He said Sweet you will walk again. I did not understand what Pastor meant until the doctors came in my room and said it could be a possibility I may never walk again. I was in intensive care for 10 days. I was depressed, sad, did not understand what happened. Pastor call me daily. At the end of each conversation Pastor would say, Sweet you will walk again. The doctor said I needed surgery. Six months later no surgery and walking again. Pastor was a faithful, trustworthy, loving, praying, prophesying man  of God. 
Pastor would always tell me 
“Stay focus”.  “Don’t give up”. You can’t know the outcome until you finish.

Pastor Currie: A Great Man who portrayed a Great Mind, a Great Speaker, a Great Preacher, a Great Teacher, a Great Entainer when delivering the Word, a Great Heart with Great Love for all mankind.
I thank God for you and Danette being at Lovefield Airport on the night of October 2, 2016. That is when our bonding began. You shall be Greatly missed until we meet again.

Thank you Pastor for stepping in and being the father figure that I needed to make me into the Woman, Mother and Wife that I am today.  I appreciate you and will cherish so many memories of you. I thank God that you were able to spend time with Jurnee and Tamia. I appreciate everything that you have done for us.  We will never forget you and will love you always! 

We have been so blessed to have had a man of God that has poured into our life so much spiritual knowledge leadership and friendship a man that loves God loves to  Preach and teach the word of God he was a true Pastor he always had a word for you he will  definitely be missed here on earth but heaven is gaining a true warrior for Christ.

Condolences to the family, including my brother Eddie Sweet who loved Pastor Currie like a brother.  You hear of self-made men, John L Currie was a god-made man. Accepting his calling and living above and beyond others expectations. 

He loved the Lord, his family and his church family.  He planted seeds everywhere he went so although his physical presence is gone, we will continue to see the manifestation of his life’s presence. To God be the glory even for the things we have trouble understanding.

Pastor, adopted me as his Spiritual Daughter at Grateful Fellowship. He taught me how to stay Focus on biblical principles, in order to Grow Spiritually and Financially while helping others.
(He always called me,“Sissy” ), he taught me how to be “Better and not Bitter”, ...doing a difficult time in my life. Under his Mentorship and Teaching, I learned  Kingdom Business Strategies( Give,Sow and Serve). He always wanted his members to be good stewards when doing business. You have always shown me nothing but unconditional love. It’s hard for me to articulate how much I truly LOVE you and APPRECIATE YOU, but it hurts for me to say I MISS YOU. Although you’re no longer here in the physical, your spirit will forever live on. Pastor was like a grandfather to me.  He would always give us candy and crackers out of his office. I remember he would always tell me to call him if my mother tried to whoop me. I will miss you and love you Pastor. 

Thank you for being a father figure, a spiritual father, a mentor and teacher. Thank you for sharing your experiences and being an exemplary example,for giving God's word and wisdom. You and first lady made us better and we are thankful and grateful for the generosity, love and prayers over the years. Thank you for sharing your faith, your family, your love, life and legacy.

Pastor Currie had a special big impact on my life. From my first day meeting him as a kid to growing into the man I am today, he helped me mentally & spiritually to be in the happy place I am today. There was a point in time I didn’t know what direction to go in in life and outside of my own parents & family, he was there. He really made me understand the quality of loving our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ & how my relationship with Him will open many doors and pour in overflows of blessings. Pastor encouraged me to graduate, when I wasn’t receiving a lot of playing time on my college basketball team and I was depressed he made me see the bigger picture and help uplift myself as a young man to finish what I started. Although we weren’t blood related he loved me like I was his own son and he sowed so many seeds in my life that are reaping the harvest to this day. Pastor’s legacy will forever live through me and I will continue to strive to make him proud.

He had always treated me with respect he never pressured me into going to church... he was a man of very high integrity strong character veryfriendly truly a man after GOD'S own heart he will be deeply missed

Pastor Currie was asked to speak at one of my relatives funeral. My relative was not a church member. That didn’t matter. What I learned was Pastor was intense about spreading the gospel. He was intentional about walking the walk and talking the talk. He truly loved people and truly loved serving. His Kingdom work is finished. But he’d tell those of us still here to Continue The Work of God. It will pay off after while!!!!!
Deepest Condolences to The Family!!!!

I met pastor Currie about 2 yrs.  ago. Shortly after he presided over my ministerial ordination.  A few months later I asked him to be my mentor and he gladly accepted the challenge. He poured so much into me that I find it difficult to narrow it down to one memory. However, the most profound principle he instilled in me is generosity.  He would say to me; "You gotta be generous Doc. Stingy people don't get blessed." He was my mentor, teacher, father figure,  and pastor. He even took time out of his busy life to accompany me to the prisons to minster to the men behind the walls. I can't say that I'll miss him because he left a part of himself with me.

We thank God for sharing Pastor Currie with us. His charismatic & solid love for God's people showed & paved the way to build a sound relationship with the Lord.  Thank you, Pastor John L Currie for showing us the way to stay Focused.  Although our hearts is heavy, we thank you for being an Honorable Ambassador for God. Our prayers is with Your Family & my GFCC family.

Thank God for bringing Pastor John L. Currie, Jr. into my life during a tough time.  He told me never makes deals with people to come to God, pray for them. Let God do the rest to get the glory. Our most famous conversation: He said he only got a G.E.D.  I would say to him  your G. E. D. Is because you (Pastor Currie) are God's Edified Discipline. I will always remember our talks. I will miss you so very much.
