

John Peter Fienen, Jr. was born on October 25, 1919 in Independence, Kansas to John P. Fienen, Sr. & Maria Klintworth Fienen. John proudly served our country in the United States Army, during WWII, with the SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force) in London, Paris & Germany.
John married Gladys Whistler on April 19, 1942. They were married 72 years, until her passing on September 16, 2014.
John was a faithful and active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Independence, KS for 46 years; the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tulsa, OK, and the Bethel Lutheran Church in Dallas, TX.
John began his career with Sinclair Pipeline Company in Independence, KS, then transferred to Tulsa, OK, and later to Dallas, TX with Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO). After retirement, he worked part-time at the Science Place at Fair Park for over 10 years, which he thoroughly enjoyed, as he was able to meet people from all parts of the world.
John P. Fienen, Jr. was called Home on Wednesday. March 30, 2016, in Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Fienen, Sr. & Maria Fienen; his wife Gladys; brother, Marvin Fienen and grandchild, Zach Fienen.
His life and legacy will continue to be honored by his four children: Doug Fienen & his wife Susan of Independence, KS, Nancy Burleson & her husband Barry of Garland, TX, Ken Fienen of Telephone, TX, and Karen Bynum & her husband Ronnie of Rowlett, TX; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; three brothers; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or Zion Lutheran Church.
