

John was born in Paris, Texas on June 26, 1946. He lived his early life in Sulphur Springs, TX where he developed a lifelong love of baseball. His family moved to Lubbock, Texas, and he continued to play baseball, football, track and basketball. He graduated from Monterrey High School leaving several records in baseball. John attended Texas Tech University on a baseball scholarship. He met his wife, Margaret, at Texas Tech, and they married on December 21, 1968. He later completed a Masters Degree in Education. John was the head baseball coach at J. J. Pearce High School in Richardson. John taught and coached for several years before accepting a property management job with Corrigan Realty Company in Dallas. John had a great respect and love for the Corrigan family and employees, and the feeling was reciprocated.
John coached his son's baseball and soccer teams. His boys were the love of his life. He taught them to play baseball and ride horses. His greatest joy was spending time with them. John loved the Dodgers baseball team. He often talked about his trip to the Dodgers spring training camp with his best friend and brother-in-law Jose Zamorano.
John was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Shirley McIntyre and his son, Michael McIntyre. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, son Nick McIntyre (Jenna McIntyre) and their children Barrett, Regan and John. His granddaughter, Aryana McIntyre, lived with him and his wife, Margaret. He adored her and was a perfect role model of a husband and father. John has two brothers Tom McIntyre (Laurie) and Dale McIntyre (Susan). He has three cousins. Kim Smith, Steve Smith and Michael Smith. His nieces and nephew and great nieces and nephews loved their Uncle John dearly.
John counted among his brothers his ACTS retreat friends at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. John was a current member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Prosper, TX.
John never met a stranger. He had a way of making everyone feel important. He was the king of Dad jokes. He answered to many names--son, dad, uncle, coach, John Boy, Johnny Mac, Mac, and Pops. He had a strong faith, and his greatest wish was to pass on his faith to his family and friends.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9643 Ferndale Rd., Dallas, TX 75238 on November 6, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Private graveside services.
