John Charles Packard-Reed

John Charles Packard - Reed, born September 13, 2018 at 11:54PM in Dallas, Texas welcomed the world with the energy of a little Star! He survived multiple open heart surgeries to address his Congenital Heart Defect - Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. While he spent his life recovering in Medical City Dallas - CHSU and Children’s Medical Center Dallas CVICU / IMU; his family longed for and were preparing for the day that he would get to come home. No matter what John Charles was going through, most days, he had a joyous smile that he would bestow upon any visitor to his room. He loved people and his family is told that he touched the lives of countless souls. Jack Chaz (as he was affectionately called by one of his favorite Doctors) loved “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” (sung by Mommy), pulling Daddy’s beard, reading books and chewing on as many fingers as he could get in his mouth. He passed away suddenly on April 12th, 2019 at 1:20AM in Dallas, Texas; like a shooting star, gone too quickly. Baby John Charles is survived by his adoring parents Elizabeth and Frank, Dog-Sister Napili, loving Family and Friends, and a village of cherished and skilled medical family: Surgeons, Doctors, Nurses and Medical Professionals. Although his time on earth was only seven moons, his lessons will live with those whose lives he touched forever.

We spent precious time in several visits with baby John. As he grew and endured much we were rewarded with awareness, curiosity and love. His eyes are as his mother Liz, engaging, curious and alert, as he underwent procedures he exhibited his father Franks, tenacity and spirit. I will always cherish his big smile and energetic wiggles. God bless you John, I am a better person for having met you.

It rained the day this sweet baby boy went to Heaven and I’m imaging these are the tears of love flowing from the grandparents and great grandparents in Heaven welcoming him home...oh my the love....the kisses...the rocking and the memories they are all will take a long while for hearts on earth to heal....but just knowing how very much he is loved in Heaven hopefully will bring that peace that passes all understanding......

I loved seeing his beautiful smile on my timeline! It definitely brought a smile to my face every time. He was soooo happy because he knew that he was loved soooo much and he was absolutely smitten with his parents. I pray for peace for your family and understanding at this time. He was a strong baby boy, and although I never had the pleasure of meeting him, he touched me with his strength and infectious smile.

I never had the pleasure of meeting this sweet boy in person, but I adored the photos his parents shared on Facebook. His sweet, gentle smile often brightened my day. His mom, Elizabeth, is one of the nicest, best people I've ever had the pleasure of working with, and I could see that John Charles inherited her sunny, happy disposition! Even though his journey was finished too soon, he will keep on brightening my day and many other's days with the memory of his smiles, and his strength.

John Charles had a smile that left imprints in your heart and soul. For a little one with such a short time on this earth, you could tell in the depths of his soul, he carried many lessons, far beyond our earthly comprehension. I keep going back to the way he would hold on to his adoring, beautiful, sun-beamed smiling mom and the way he would stare as his strong, amazing and fully- dedicated father with these big bright wisdom-filled blue eyes. I pray for understanding and recognize how grateful I truly am to have met this angel in person. I will forever be touched by his presence on this earth. ❤️
