John F Pask

John Floyd Pask died on Friday, July 31, 2026, at the age of 63, surrounded by his family and friends. He was the life of every party. He loved the Aggies, golf, tennis, red wine, and most of all, his family. John lived every day to the fullest and always maintained his signature wit and zest for life. Even during his five-year battle with renal cell carcinoma, he was probably stronger and more physically fit than most people will ever be.

John’s life changed forever at an Aggie happy hour in 1986 when he met Ann Cervenka, the love of his life and wife of 31 years. They married in 1994 and have two children, Rachel and Eric.

John was a devoted father and energetically involved in his kids’ lives. John joyfully attended countless tea parties, t-ball games, ballet recitals, golf tournaments, and even knew the words to nearly every Taylor Swift song by heart. (He famously attended the Taylor Swift “Eras Tour” in France with his family.) An Eagle Scout himself, John was active in Dallas’ Troop 82, and hiked Philmont with his son Eric in 2016. His favorite memories were traveling with his family, most consistently to the beaches in the Florida Panhandle, and to Telluride, where they hiked, golfed, and played tennis in the summer and skied in the winter. John and his wife Ann loved playing tennis together and traveled to many tennis tournaments. An avid golfer and tennis player, John was an active member at Northwood Country Club. He had his only hole-in-one at Lakewood Country Club.

When he was young, John dreamed of becoming an actor. Although he was born and raised in Dallas, he briefly moved to Los Angeles in 1990 to try to make it on the silver screen. He played the bad guy in a B movie called “Armed for Action” and also appeared as an extra in an episode of “Growing Pains” and several television commercials.

In 1994, John founded his first company, Delphi Consultants, which he later sold to Towers Perrin. In 2007, John founded MotionHR, specializing in benefits administration, and later started a group health insurance agency called GoBenefits, where he worked full time until his death.

The second son of Neil Evan Pask and Carol Ann Smith, John was born August 23, 1962, in Dallas. He graduated from J. J. Pearce High School in 1980 and attended Texas A&M University, where he graduated with a degree in Business Analysis in 1984.

John is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter Rachel (boyfriend Jacob Guidry); son Eric (fiancée Catherine Haegelin); brother Neil Pask and wife Annalisa, and their children Harrison (wife Kayli, kids Evie and Charlie), Isabel (fiancé Eric Wiegand) and Claire; mother-in-law Carolyn Cervenka; and sister-in-law Karen McClure and her children Lauren Telepak (husband Stephen, son Rhys), Erica and Audrey.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 7, at 10 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas, preceded by a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 14, at 10 a.m. at Sparkman/Hillcrest.
