

John P. Stewart, 77, long time resident of Dallas, Texas, passed peacefully at his home after a long fought battle with FTLD (Frontal Temporal Lobe Degeneration). He was surrounded by his wife and numerous friends and family members.
He was born in Centralia, Illinois on February 28, 1938, to the late John P. Stewart II and the late Mabel Ellis Stewart both of Oklahoma City. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Taffy Stewart. Sister Anne and husband, Jere McKenny, of Oklahoma City, sister Lynne and husband, Pete White, of Oklahoma City, and sister Nancy and husband, John Clifford, of Dallas. Also survived by Taffy’s brother Rocky Mossien and his wife Tammie, of Haskell, Oklahoma; their God Children, Chandler Cooke Walters of Fort Worth, Christin Porter of Nashville, TN., and Chase Cook of Dallas.
John graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City and attended Oklahoma University. John was a proud veteran of the US Army.
John was a lifetime member of the Texas Longhorn Foundation and an avid supporter of the University of Texas Longhorns. Prior to moving to Texas he was an avid Oklahoma University fan…….(?) I know…..right?
John’s family would like to express their overwhelming gratitude to The Veterans Administration, Scenario Adult Day Care Center of Dallas and especially Compass Hospice , specifically, Sherry, John’s nurse and Linda and Michael his caregivers.
A Celebration of John’s life will be Saturday, February 20th, at 2:00pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy, Dallas, TX 75225.
