Joseph Francis Barta, 57, of Garland, Texas, passed away June 20, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Patricia Bond and sons Bryan Caldwell and Jacob Alexander. Joe was the seventh of eight children by Ted and Ann Barta – Jerry, Jane, Mike, John, Maggie, Betsy and Steve. He had 25 nieces and nephews, and 30 great nieces and nephews…and countless good friends throughout the years.

Joe was born in Dallas on August 10, 1962 and attended St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School through eighth grade. He was a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1980, lettering in swimming. He married his wife Sarah on September 20, 1986 and settled in Garland. That lifelong passion led to a 30-year membership in the Z-Club of Texas, with a term as Vice President. He loved soccer and was known as “Coach Joe” for 15 years, leading youth teams the Dynamite Dinosaurs, the Vipers, the Burn, and the Shooters. Joe had an enormous zest for life, with a truly unique sense of humor and a heart of gold for all those he touched.

What can I say about Joey?
Joey grew up as the second youngest son of the Barta family.
We all of us kids were a family within a family. This time of year is a very important time. Why? Because we would be the kids of summer. Joey was the optimist, happy go lucky. We would play monopoly, ride our bikes. Joey would design and create his own dirt bikes. There is too much to say. Joey will always be a part of this cloth. No fear on Joeys part, from swinging over the pond to walking the tunnels A bobolink golf course to jumping bunny hills. Riding motorcycles to sports cars. Theses are the days we can keep in our heart. We can share the memories of one of the sweetest guys. Godspeed Joey know you are loved by many and we all have an angel by our side.
XO Catherine

Joe and I worked together for many years with Aetna in the Dallas office before we were moved to work at home. I still remember his infectious laugh and hilarious sense of humor. You were always laughing if Joe was around. He made the work day fun and he was fun to be around. He loved his Z-cars and was super handy with fixing most anything or letting you know how you could do it. Always smiling, always a nice word about everyone. I miss him and his laugh, but I can still hear him chuckling about a good one... Such a kind, gentle, heartwarming soul. And to his family he loved so dearly, He cherished each and every one of you. You could see his eyes sparkle when he thought of Sarah. He was so proud of 'All' of his 'kids', his own boys and all the kids he coached over the years. He loved life and all the people in his. We miss you so much Joe ! All my Love and Hugggs to your family. He is a happy memory in my life I will always cherish.

Joe and I were desk mates, or as we said, we considered ourselves
as office husband/wife..LOL He and I were always trading sayings from Mel Brooks movies and laughing so loud. He was one of a kind and I will always remember how he helped pass the days.
Sarah, I so glad I got to meet you and your boys and my prayers go out to you all.

Joe was one of the funniest and kindest people I ever got to call friend. From working on cars to Spring Break in Padre we had a lot of great times together. I can never hear certain songs without hearing “Joes” lyrics. Every time I see a first gen Zcar I think of you. My prayers are with Sarah and the boys. She was definitely your soulmate for life. I’m sad that I didn’t spend as much time with you later in life. RIP Joe. I love you man.

We have been lucky to live nextdoor to Joe and Sarah and the boys for over 18+ years. Joe was such a nice, kind man and very willing to share his much appreciated, knowledge. We met Joe the first time we came to look at our house. We were walking down the side between our houses and Joe's smiling face popped up over the top of the fence. I can still see his happy, friendly face. He joined our tour and like in many things he shared his wisdom and knowledge on what would become our future home. We thought, with such a friendly neighbor, it would be a great place to live! Joe, your smile, wisdom and sunny disposition will be deeply missed. You will live in our hearts and memories forever.
Rest in peace dear friend.

Joe will remain the funniest guy I've ever known. His giggle laugh will always be with me. From comedy albums in his room on Revere as little kids, cracking up an entire Woodrow swim team while on the starting block, to laughs at home, he was always on. Joe is a brother I never had as are all the kids from Revere, Martel, Malcolm, and McCommas. Sarah, you have been such a rock for so many years! God bless you and all the Barta and Bond family always. Much love.
