

Joseph Mooring McQuirk, 69, died 7 May 2016 in Plano, Texas. Born on 19 April 1947, in Wichita Falls, Texas, he was the son of the late Florence "Skeeter" (Mooring) and Bernard Clair McQuirk. Joe was also preceded in death by one brother, Kevin Christopher McQuirk.
Joe attended Christ the King grade school, was a 1965 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and earned a BA in Business, Finance and Real Estate from Southern Methodist University.
He was a Bronze Star, decorated veteran of the Air Force, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. A life-long Republican, he was a supporter of many local, state and national efforts. He was a member of the Park Cities Lions Club, on the School Board at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, a Precinct Judge for 20 years, a District Aide in the Texas House of Representatives, a member of the North Texas Crime Commission. Joe was an entrepreneur with his own business and also worked for Rich’s (Atlanta), Neiman Marcus for 20 years, Saks 5th Avenue and, most recently, for Thrivent. He enthusiastically coached many youth sports teams.
Starting in 1608, his ancestors settled in America in Jamestown and he had many more forefathers who fought in the Revolutionary War.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Doris Jean "Dee" (Shaver) McQuirk and one daughter, April Kathryn Logsdon (husband Brian); three siblings, Happi Mikki McQuirk, John Allen McQuirk, Sr. (wife Rhonda) and Cynthia Anne McDonald (husband Charles); two grandchildren, Emma Caroline Logsdon and Benjamin Mathew Logsdon; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation/Vigil on Thursday, May 12 from 6-8 PM at Sparkman-Hillcrest. Funeral will be at Christ the King Catholic Church on Friday, May 13 at 10 AM, followed by a Reception in the Church hall. Military Honor Burial will be at the DFW National Cemetery at 1 PM.
