Joseph Michael Taylor, a life-long resident born and raised in Dallas, Texas, passed away on October 13, 2026 at the age of 65. He celebrated his birthday exactly one month prior with his family, with great style and the fanfare & fun warranted by such a happy occasion. Joe was a graduate of Lake Highlands High School Class of 1980.
Joe will be remembered for the loyalties that anchored his life-his relationship with and faith in Jesus Christ, his love for his family, his passion for Alabama football- and for the simple, genuine joy he found in dogs of all kinds. They matched his loving nature and he found companionship there.
He had more friends than he imagined, charmed anyone and everyone with his curiosity when he met a self-same sweet face. He offered support to all, encouraged anyone who struggled, and loved with his whole, huge heart. He was a favorite employee with customers and co-workers alike, due to his diligence, character and friendliness when he went on to build a steady and meaningful career at Tom Thumb.
Joe lived without pretense. He dearly loved his family and those in his support system. Without even knowing it, his great strength was the gift he gave to everyone who loved him- a resolute understanding of love without condition and what it means to never, never stop trying. Joe dreamt in possibilities.
Memories of his beautiful smile and caring eyes shall sustain those who cherish him and give thanks for his eternal peace. Heaven has never been more real to us all. What he once knew by faith, he now knows by sight.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Jenkins Taylor and Jefferson Hermann Taylor & his brother-in-law Casey Clem. He is survived by his sister Lori Clem-Byrnes & husband Collin Byrnes, his brother John Taylor & wife Valerie Taylor; one nephew, Dustin Byrnes; and three nieces, Holly Taylor MacKay & husband Wes MacKay, Wendy Taylor Pugh & husband David Pugh and Katy Taylor. He is also survived by two great-nieces, Brooke Collins and Meredith Christine Pugh.
On behalf of Joe and our entire family, thank you for your continued prayers and the loving friendships extended to each of us through the years.
