Josephine was born March 9, 1923, to Juanita Garcia and Sebastian Montes in Dallas. She grew up in the Little Mexico neighborhood, attended St. Anne’s School, and graduated from Dallas Technical High School in 1939.
A lifelong Dallas resident, Josephine worked in the executive offices at El Fenix Corp. and was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She lived in the Love Field neighborhood and traveled to many countries with her husband of 46 years, Clemente Leno Martinez, who died in 2009.
Josephine was a gentle woman with a sweet smile and easy laugh. She was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, and aunt who enjoyed watching Cowboy games on TV and spending holidays and Sunday gatherings with family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Celine, Paula, Maria, and Mary Louise; and her brothers Vincent and Albert. She is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews who loved Aunt Josie dearly and mourn the passing of the last of our Montes family forebears in Dallas.
