Josephine A. Torres returned home to God on December 22, 2018. Born in Dallas, Texas on September 9, 1927, Josephine came into this world with the mission to help those in need and leave this world better than she found it. Her greatest joys were her family, her friends, and being of service to the community.
Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family and friends. Just a few of her accomplishments are represented by her service as Past Director of the West Dallas Community Center, Executive Board member of the Los Barrios Unidos, Board member of the La Voz del Anciano and countless others.
Josephine is preceded in death by her husband Crespin S. Torres, son Victor A. Torres, mother Maria P. Rivera, father Jesus Alonzo, sister Margaret Velasquez, brothers Martin P. Alonzo and Gilbert Alonzo.
She is survived by her children, Francis Viola Torres, Marie Cynthia Maldonado, Sylvia Rincon, and Phillip Torres; son-in-law Jesse Rincon; daughter-in-laws Esther Torres and Rosanna Jimenez. Josephine is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life as she was the light of her family's life.
