and foremost a believer in Christ Jesus. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 23.
Born in Dallas, she was one of 7 children. She met the love of her life, Jesse Gutierrez at 19 and they
were married for 57 years. They raised four children (3 of their own, and one adopted). Her home was
a 2nd home to neighborhood kids.
During those years, Josie was a home maker and volunteer activities were important to her. She loved
to visit the sick, was a Sunday School Teacher and Church treasurer. She was a long time volunteer for
Brother Bill's Helping Hand in West Dallas, a member of Arcadia Park Baptist Church, Dallas, Tx and
later a founding member of Arcadia Park Hispanic Baptist Church, Dallas, Tx.
Jesse went to be with the Lord first, in 2011. After encountering several health issues, Josie left her
hometown of Dallas to move in with her daughter, Diana in Quinlan, Tx. There, she joined Lakeview
Church and also became a financial contributor to the Helping Hands Today, Quinlan, Tx.
Josie is now dwelling in the house of the Lord forever!
Born March 18, 1933. Passed away peacefully on July 12, 2018. Josie is survived by her children,
Cynthia (Rick), Diana (John) & Art; sisters, Virginia, Benita and Margaret; grand children, Jason
(Jessica), Jennifer, Carolina, Omar (Laura), Michael, Johnny Lee (Amy) and Tiffany and three great
grandsons, Justin, David and Aston. Preceded by: husband, Jesse; son, David and siblings, Celia,
