Joyce Marie Blanton

Mrs. Joyce Marie Blanton, 72, of Garland, TX, departed to be with her Savior on February 15, 2016. She was married to Lemorris Blanton, the love of her life, May 25, 1989 in Dallas; Lemorris called her “his queen from God”. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.

Joyce loved shopping and the finer things in life and had a talent for interior decoration. She loved to eat out at fine restaurants, but also loved just riding around town with Lemorris. Western movies were her favorites, she would sit and watch Bonanza, The Rifleman, and Matt Gilliam, but she also loved anything Tyler Perry was in. She loved Gospel music, and also loved to listen to Soul and R&B. Joyce would spend time each day reading and studying the bible and really loved going to church, she was a member of Pentecost COGIC church for more than 20 years. The Girls all agree that Momma was Sassy.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 27 years, Lemorris Blanton, five daughters; Lakindra Suree Reese, Vanessa K. Bryant, Pamela Joyce Reese, Christel LaShaun Gentry, and Paula Marie Reese, one brother, James Harris and one sister Cora Thronton, four grandchildren; DeMon Reese, Rodrick Bryant, Kamesha Mathis, and Arrial Reese, and three great-grandchildren, Elaina Reese, Jaden Reese, and Lanya Reese. She is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Gearldine (Rocquemore) Reese, Son, Gregory Reese, and Granddaughter Quwissha Reese.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6000 S. R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75232. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 19, at 2:00 pm at Laurel Land Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow immediately afterward at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
