In August 2012, I went on a trip to Arkansas with Aunt Joyce, Aunt Carol, and my mom, Pat.  We drove to Little Rock and found the house they grew up in on Lookout Street. Then we went to Hot Springs.  I attached a picture of us in front of  Fisherman's Warf restaurant in Hot Springs. This was my first trip to Arkansas. 

A fun memory with Auntie Joyce was when we were in Arkansas and the floor in our condo/unit was slanted. Aunt Joyce kept sliding out of a big black leather chair.  Oh, We laughed so much!

In memory of my dear Auntie Joyce

I found some great pictures of our trip to Heritage House.  Here is one with Joyce in her white Cotton rob. She loved sitting outside in the morning. We walked down a steep rocky stair way to the ocean so we could get close to the water.  I found a weird kind of purple urchin in the sand. No one wanted to touch it. I picked it up and thankfully didn't get stung. We all laughed!

Auntie Joyce, thoughtful, sweet, fun, cheerful, joyful, adorable - contagious laugh that's what I remember. 

 I was blessed to enjoys several trips with her. We went to Florida, Arkansas, Virginia, Louisiana, Tahoe, Monterey, San Francisco, and the Mendocino Coast-The Heritage House.

Our trip in 2006 to the Heritage House was really special! 
It is a very luxurious bed and breakfast resort in Little River California along the beautiful rugged California coast. Auntie Joyce loved the ocean, and she was so happy to be at The Heritage House.  We had thick white cotton robes in our room and in the morning she put on her rob and sat in a wooden Adirondack chair outside on the porch  and just enjoyed the scenery with sheer delight.  There was a beautiful rose garden that we strolled around and a huge white gazebo out near the edge of a cliff where we sat and talked. In the afternoon we had tea in the main house with little scones. We laughed, chatted and shared precious time together that I will always cherish.

My Mom was my hero. The strongest woman I knew. I love you Mom. 

When I was very little, Mema took me to McDonald's one day during a rain storm. After we got our food we parked in the lot and just sat in her car, eating and watching the rain run down the windows, and listening to it drum on the roof. I've never forgotten that.

We are here to celebrate Joyce’s life. It is often hard to think of celebration during this time, but it is the best thing we can do to honor her.
Joyce would be telling us it is too much. Not to go out of our way. But I think she would be okay for us to take time to think about how much she meant to us.
Part of celebrating Joyce’s life would be to include laughter. It was always nice to see Joyce laugh. Part of the laughter, the women of this family would call is being a Marlowe, laughing until there are tears and laughing hard and long. 
Joyce and her sisters were the Marlowe girls. And they passed on the ability to laugh. 
So, start thinking of those things that would include Joyce laughing. 
I remember when we traveled to Colorado and she swore she was in a blizzard. She loved the scenery but wasn’t crazy about the blizzard until we saw a McDonald’s in Vail. She told us if there was a McDonalds we were in civilization. So, we started taking pictures of McDonalds in all kind of places, so she would get a kick out of them. 

She loved to travel, then sit and enjoy the scenery. It didn’t matter where she went, as long as she had scenery she was good. She enjoyed her times at Disney with grandkids and traveling with her sisters to California. And all of the trips in between. 
So when you travel, even if just across town, think of Joyce.
One of Joyce’s greatest joys was being mema. She loved all of her grandkids. 
Let’s all love them back for Joyce.
She was a lady who loved fine china and hot dogs. She loved skirts and gloves when she was young, then loved her jeans, and robes when she got older. 
She was a mom and grandmother. And a mother in law you would want. She was a sister and a friend. She was an aunt. Not perfect, but perfect for us. 
Years ago I asked Joyce about her religion. She said she believed in Jesus Christ and had asked Him to come into her heart. I should have known from her countenance and the sparkle in her eye. We love you JOYCE  



There are so many things to love about mom, but one of the things I loved most is mom was content on being herself. She told me once that not all people can be rich or famous, there had to be people like her. People who were lunch ladies and that was okay. That is what she did, who she was is so much more. She taught me to be happy with who I am 95% of the time.  Mom and Pam came to bring me and Elizabeth home over 20 years ago, now it is time to let mom be at home, even if it is not with us. It's okay to laugh and it is okay to cry, I just ask that you simply remember who mom was and what she meant to you. Please take time to  share your memories with us.

Laughed at everything, some tears , especially when we got lost !! We have been to cal, , close to to Las Vegas etc, and many more will miss her so much until we meet again❤️☺️😇
