Juan Cadena, 99, passed away in his home on September 29, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on December 27, 1926 to Gregorio and Angela Cadena in Calderon Tlalmanalco, Mexico. Juan lived a life full of adventure, curiosity and at times uncertainty, but he was not one to sit around for life to come to him. He always kept going. He eventually made his way to Monterrey, Mexico where he met and married the love of his life, Laetitia on August 24, 1959. They eventually moved in Dallas, TX where they settled down and raised their five children together. Juan worked at various restaurants in Dallas such as La Tunisia, Goldfinger and Kosta’s to name a few. He also enjoyed entertaining his customers with his big smile, humor and easy going attitude. Juan had a true zest for life and never missed an opportunity to have fun or do things that he enjoyed even as age and adversity struck. Age and adversity were never a factor for him. He loved holidays especially Halloween and Christmas, dressing up, especially in his various hats listening to music, cooking, working in the yard or his shed. Juan also loved cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, collecting coins and watching westerns. He loved attending the State Fair every year and enjoyed getting to travel even in his later years. None of this compares to the love of his family especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He left a legacy of service, love of family, resilience, faith, self reliance, wit and living everyday to the fullest as it’s your last. He will be greatly missed. A Visitation will be held on Monday October 12, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held in his honor on Tuesday October 13, 2026 at 11:00 am at Calvary Hill Funeral Home North Mausoleum Chapel. Interment to follow at Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park.
