

Juanita "Janie" Ortiz Soto, age 76, passed away on September 8, 2025, in Dallas, Texas.
She was born on June 1, 1949, in Mumford, Texas, to Antonio Ortiz and Reyes Montelongo Ortiz. Juanita graduated from N.R. Crozier Technical High School in 1967 and went on to attend Texas Woman’s University.
In 1992, Juanita met the love of her life, Al Rosales. The two shared a devoted partnership and marriage that lasted 33 years.
Juanita worked for Mary Kay Inc. for many years, where she built lasting friendships before retiring. She found joy in sewing, crocheting, and sharing her love of cooking with her children and grandchildren. Family was the center of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Reyes Ortiz; her brothers, Miguel Ortiz and Esteban Ortiz; and her beloved son, Agapito R. Soto.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Al Rosales; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Arthur Hernandez; daughter-in-law, Lisa Soto; eight granddaughters, Jessica Moreno, Michelle Soto, Marina Brown, Juanita Ortega, Marissa Soto, Isabel Ortega, Adrianna Soto, and Brianna Soto; and four great-grandchildren, Dominic Moreno, Kylee Brown, Sebastian Soto Brown, and Elias Agapito Soto. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Ortiz Blanco and Eugenia Ortiz Cepeda; brother, Guadalupe Ortiz; and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will deeply miss her.
Juanita will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, and her devotion to her family. Her legacy of love and care will continue to live on through all those whose lives she touched.
Services will be held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220. The visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with the Holy Rosary recited at 6:00 pm. The funeral service Liturgy of the Word will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 11:00 am, followed by the burial at 12:00 pm.
