Judy Janice Rector, age 72, passed away September 8, 2015. She was born March 24, 1943 in Dallas, TX, the daughter of Robert Everett Jones and Evelyn Lavern (Chapman) Jones. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Tim L Rector.
Judy was familiar with hardship but never wavered in her duty as a mom. As a single mom, Judy exemplified grace and strength. Judy raised her children to love the Lord with the same passion and joy that she demonstrated.
When Tim entered her life, he fell in love with all three ladies and with Mark’s arrival the family was complete. It was normal to find Judy involved in every area of the church. Serving with a grateful heart and an ever-present smile. Judy’s nickname, ‘thorn in the flesh” was given to her by the Pastor of North Mesquite Assembly of God (NMAG) in Mesquite, Texas. Because, when Judy set her mind on a project, she would stay on him until completion!
Judy has a prominent place in the history of NMAG and is remembered by many as the most successful Missionette Director in leading the department. Judy would also be found pitching for the softball team and playing on the NMAG basketball team coached by her husband, Tim.
Judy shined as a Pastor’s wife when Tim entered full-time ministry. Judy’s gifts to all of us were her quick wit, kind heart and unfailing loyalty. Judy’s gifts to her family are generational blessings that are rooted in loving God with all her heart and her neighbors as herself. Her smile and wise words are missed but her life’s impact is being celebrated in Heaven. We can’t wait to see you again.
