Karen Koleta Wright Baker was born on May 20, 1948 in Waurika, Oklahoma. She passed from this world into heavenly glory on June 22, 2023 in Bedford, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold L. Wright and Bessie Z. Wright Jordan, brother Roger Wright and first husband Charles E. Greer, Jr. and his parents Charles E. Greer, Sr. and Joyce Brittan Greer and many more loved ones.
She moved from Oklahoma to Texas when she was five years old and grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas. She gave her life to Christ at an early age, and her faith was a driving force from that day until her death. She attended Hampton Place Baptist Church and graduated from Sunset High School. On May 7, 1965, she married Charles Greer and together they lived in DeSoto, Texas until his death in 1992. Three children were born of that marriage, and Karen devoted her life to them, and later to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She married her former high school sweetheart Jerome Baker on February 4, 1994 and blended their two families by moving to Fort Worth, Texas.
Karen went to beauty school while in high school and worked as a hair dresser, and later in banking for several years, finally retiring from Southwestern Bell. She enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, antique shopping, cooking as she was a foodie, planting and tending flowers and of course loved watching Fox news.
She was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, friend and the best MeMaw ever to her grandchildren and great-grand children. The love that she had for her family overflowed in all that she did and thought.
Karen is survived by her husband Jerome Baker, sister Retta Feemster (husband Rocky), brother Kip Wright (wife Stacye), children Shellie Davis (partner Shawn), Tamara Neal, Matt Greer (wife Stacye), step children Randy Baker (wife Jeanna), Jeff Baker (wife Jamie).
