It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathy Magee Meyer. She was a wife, mother, constant companion, friend and confidant. She and Russ met in 1969 while Russ was on active duty military service. They spent the succeeding 53 years both together and with their three sons, Rusty, Matt and Mike. Kathy was a devoted educator at the Saldivar Elementary School. She was a Master Teacher; volunteered as a Cub Scout den mother; and spent many years studying theology through the University of Dallas.
In her spare time, she ran triathlons, marathons and half marathons; traveled, hiked, and fished throughout the American West; helped Russ train their beloved bird dogs and hunted upland birds and mountain grouse with them from South Texas to Montana.
In her later years, Kathy joined multiple Bible study groups comprised of former high school classmates, members of her congregation and like-minded women. The friendships that she forged in these groups brought her profound joy and helped sustain her during the darkest days of her illness.
There will be a visitation for Kathy at the Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway in Dallas from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 25.
