Katrina Denise (Henderson) Harris was born on October 9,1959, to Arthur and Elnita (Dowell) Henderson in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was the third youngest of seven children and brought gentle strength, quick wit, and endless creativity to every season of her life.
A 1977 graduate of S.H. Rider High School, Katrina went on to build a life full of love and laughter. In 1984, she met Levern Jr. “Lee” Harris—and two years later, they were married. From that moment on, they were inseparable. They traveled together, laughed constantly, supported each other fiercely, and could often be caught in playful banter. Her quick wit kept him on his toes and watching them was like watching a love story that never got old.
Katrina was soft-spoken and full of grace, but she had her own way of doing things—and we learned to just let her do it her way. She could take a simple piece of cloth and make a show-stopping dress, usually topped off with her signature bow. Whether it was a wedding, prom, church event, or quinceañera, if Katrina made it, you wore it—and smiled about it.
She also worked magic in the kitchen. She had a style of her own, always “tweaking” recipes with a little something extra—even if it was just a twist on a basic condiment. And when we asked what she added, she’d grin and say, “You gon’ laugh if I tell you.”
She was a devoted mother to her son, Lawrence (Alicia) Henderson, proud grandmother to Giovanna and Lawrence Jr., and bonus mom to Shawn (Fidell) Tinnion, and Angie Tinnion. Katrina also had many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren—loved and embraced like her very own.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elnita Henderson; her sister Florisette Lewis; and her brother Marcel Henderson. Her memory lives on through her sisters: Joyqua Moore (Rockwall, TX), Patricia Launza (Wichita Falls, TX), Rhuronne Brooks (Wichita Falls, TX), and Watsuki (James) Brooks (Henrietta, TX). Her lifelong best friend, Lynn Outlaw of Wichita Falls, was like another sister—sharing decades of laughter, loyalty, and late-night talks.
Katrina passed away peacefully at 2:27 a.m. on April 13, 2025. She lived a life full of color, heart, humor, and love. Whether sewing a dress or stirring a pot, she made sure her signature was felt.
