Kay was born in Mt. Vernon on January 28, 1941. She was a long time member of the Desoto Does and later became a member of the Elks. She served in many offices in both organizations. Kay was involved in other charitable organizations over the years. She loved to dance, travel and to spend time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bert and Velma Sue Johnson, her husband Tony Hernandez, her sisters Carolyn and Bertha, and her son Tony J Hernandez.
She is survived by her children, Ricky Housewright, Randy Housewright, Dina Housewright, Frances (Housni) Safi, Karen Harris and Mario (Stacy) Hernandez; grandchildren, Dylan, Kenny, Larry, Kenneth, Kristina, Kevin, Erica, Joey, Cameron, Katie and Kayla; Nineteen great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Kay was very proud of her family and adored her grandchildren and their children.
She was a mom to so many over the years and always opened her home and heart to people in need. Her loving heart and kind soul will be dearly missed.
