Kenneth Paul Alexa

Kenneth Paul Alexa, age 65, passed away suddenly, leaving behind a loving family and countless friends whose lives were made better simply by knowing him. His infectious smile, unmistakable laugh, genuine kindness, and ability to make everyone feel like a friend will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ken was the devoted father of Kenny Alexa, Connor Alexa, Maggie Alexa, and the late Katie Schmidt Alexa. His children were the greatest joy and proudest accomplishment of his life. He was the beloved son of the late Theresa Michalik; cherished brother of Christine (Bill) Keiss, the late Sandy Fafara, the late Shelly Grencik Alexa, and Chuck (Sue) Alexa. He remained the former husband and forever friend of Peggy (Shinnick) Alexa. Ken was also a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews whom he adored, a cherished cousin, and a treasured friend to many.

Ken was a graduate of Lockport High School and Illinois State University, Class of 1984, where he distinguished himself as an All-Conference wrestler, demonstrating the determination and competitive spirit that would define so much of his life. Nothing brought Ken greater pride than being a father. He rarely missed an opportunity to coach his children or cheer from the sidelines, celebrating every sporting event, milestone, and accomplishment. His unwavering love, encouragement, and support will remain with them forever. Ken enjoyed a long career as a Securities Trader and Financial Advisor. He was also affectionately known as “Coach Ken,” dedicating many years to Frankfort Baseball and other local baseball organizations, where he mentored young athletes, built lifelong friendships, and made a lasting impact on countless players and their families. Ken was a proud and lifelong member of the Youngbloods, a group of friends he simply considered family. Whether he was sharing stories over a good bourbon and cigar, preparing one of his favorite meals, cheering on his beloved Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears, or simply gathering with those he loved, Ken was happiest when everyone was together. His laughter will echo in every ballpark, around every backyard grill, at every tailgate, and in every story told by those fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the players he coached, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless people whose names—and lives—he never forgot.

He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

Memorial Visitation Saturday, August 22, 2026, 1:00 p.m. until Service at 4:00 p.m. at the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park, IL.

Interment private

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ken's memory may be made to the family, who will direct the contributions to causes that were meaningful to him.
