He was raised on the family farm in Dallas during the Depression. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas.
He first worked in a military aircraft factory, and then served in the U.S. Navy, during World War II. He owned and ran Fain Produce Company with his son, David Paul Fain, after his father, Paul L. Fain, Retired.
He was an avid gardener and fisherman. He looked after his family and helped provide for them as long as he was able. He was a faithful member of the Lake Highland Baptist Church.
He is predeceased by his parents, Paul and Katie Fain, sister, Norma and his three wives: Eloise, Opal and Minnie, successively.
He is survived by his children; Sharon Ann Fain Edwards and David Paul Fain, his grandchildren; Laurie and Lisa Sandow, Robin Fain, Jennifer Lieske (Shaun), Reagan Tuley and Shanna Gonzales, his great-grandchildren; Brendan, Cassidy, Lorelei, Keegan and Benjamin, his niece; Karin Ehrenborg and many friends and extended family members.
The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Traymore Nursing Home and the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Dallas.
Funeral Service will be held at Sparkman-Hillcrest, Northwest Highway Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Saturday July 7, 2012. Visitation will be just prior to the funeral from 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m... Burial will follow with Military Honors at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
