

Kenneth Arvel Shuemake passed away from this life on February 17, 2018, at the age of 82 years. He loved people and was known for his ease of conversation with others, even total strangers. His contagious smile and beautiful blue eyes will be greatly missed by his family.
Kenneth was born the second oldest of 8 children to Jim and Ruth Shuemake in Dallas, Texas. He met his wife, Lucille Easley, at Forest Avenue High in Dallas, Texas, in 1952.
The couple moved to Garland, Texas, where Kenneth served as a firefighter and Fire Marshall for the City of Garland for 32 years. He retired in 1991 and served as an arson investigator for a private engineering firm for several years. He enjoyed serving as a deacon at the Saturn Road Church of Christ in the 1970’s and restoring old automobiles, particularly Fords.
In 1996 he and wife moved to Jacksonville, Texas, where he enjoyed serving as an elder in the Bullard Church of Christ and teaching Bible classes. He enjoyed gardening, spending time in his workshop and helping others in the community.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille Easley Shuemake, son Keith, and daughter Diane Hasley. Surviving siblings include; Jeanette Prestridge, Sidney Shuemake, Shirley Robinette, Linda Basham, Rita Hansen. He was preceded in death by brothers; Jimmy and Robert Shuemake. He was most proud of his five grandchildren; Darrin and Derek Hasley, Holly Shuemake Rawlinson, Danielle Hasley Helling and Paige Shuemake, but even more proud of his great grandchildren; Bailey, Brayden, Riley and River Rawlinson and Lincoln, Langston and Landon Hasley. A Celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held at Noon on Thursday, February 22nd at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas. Glenn Cogburn will be officiating the celebration. Mr. Shuemake will be laid to rest by the Garland Fire Department Honor Guard in Fireman’s Rest in the Memorial Park.
