Kenneth Ray Tomlinson loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away into the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Ray was born on November 24, 1930 in Claude, Texas to Jim and Vera Tomlinson. Ray was a third generation farmer/rancher in Swisher County. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1949 and Texas Tech University in 1953 with a BS in Agricultural Engineering. He was a veteran of the Korean War era where he served in the Army for 2 years. He returned home to the family farm where he met and married the love of his life Joan Dudley on December 31, 1957 in Tulia, Texas where they raised their three daughters. Ray was an active Mason, member of the First Baptist Church and served on the board of Swisher Electric. Ray retired in 1995 and moved to Plano, Texas where he enjoyed his family, grandchildren, gardening and going to the Dallas Cowboy games in the fall.
Ray is preceded in death by his wife Joan D. Tomlinson. He is survived by his daughters Cindy Tomlinson of Plano; Karen Morrey (Tim) of Greenville, South Carolina; JoRayne Tomlinson of Dallas; grandchildren Konrad Kaltenbach III of Dallas; Kristina Kaltenbach Peck (Jimmy) of Houston and Jessica Morrey of Waco; sister Jimmie Pharis (Earl); nephews Craig Pharis of Houston and Jay Pharis (Michelle) of Amarillo; great niece Keslie Pharis and great nephew Trenton Pharis.
Graveside services are being held at Sparkman/Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Red Cross and Salvation Army.
