

Education for Mark began in 1960 at Daniel Webster Elementary, continued at T.W. Brown Junior High, and then high school graduation from Justin F. Kimball High School in 1972. Working hard to bring his grades up to meet the requirements, Mark was accepted by Southern Methodist University, his father's and sister's alma mater, where he graduated in 1976 with a degree in real estate and accounting.
Work experience was varied and included accounting positions, home building, new car salesman, along with many others. But perhaps, what Mark was proudest of was providing a home for his grandson Nicholas.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sherrie; son, John Mark Patterson and grandson, Nicholas Andrew Patterson, currently serving in the United States Navy. He is also survived by his sister, Phyllis Vermillion; aunt, Marlene Patterson; step-daughter, Kellie Gonzalez and her family; cousins, Jim, Tony, Anna, Debbie, Michael, and Ann Marie; and life long friend, Richard Hawes.
Pastor Ed Fisher of Malakoff Methodist Church will be in charge of the service.
An inurnment service will be held for Larry Mark Patterson on Thursday, January 22, 1:00pm, in Laurel Land Cemetery, Dallas, Texas. Mark passed away in a care facility in DeSoto on Christmas Eve 2025.
